Personality disorder

A personality disorder is a very unusual type of mental disorder that leads to a loss of sense of the personality of an individual or self-identity. Individuals suffering from personality disorders face many challenges such as interpersonal interaction, emotional control, and self-identity. Personality disorders can range into different types from borderline type to antisocial personality disorder. Diagnosis is usually comprised of assessing the patient's medical history, symptoms, and any signs of impairment of functions. Based on the symptoms and other parameters treatment can be optimized for specific individual. Continued care and therapeutic intervention are required to improve the quality of life of people affected with personality disorders.
